WWS Launches Easy-to-Use Wine Education Modules

Saturday, July 25, 2009

WWS chapters can now take advantage of a ‘turnkey curriculum’ that makes it easy to present wine education programs. Sensory Evaluation, the first in a planned series of training modules, was unveiled at the National Board meeting. This education module, complete with handouts and templates for tasting mats, is available for all chapters to use.

Developed by Grand Event 2010 Chair Susan Calcagno, the Sensory Evaluation program provides a guided assessment of wine using all of the senses. It was designed so that beginners and more advanced tasters can participate and enhance their knowledge by sharing in their insights and experience.

Chapter presidents Karen Desmond of Rochester and Vee Fitzgerald of New York City demonstrated the “out of the box” ease of the training module by presenting it to their fellow Board members during the National Board Retreat, having just picked it up that morning!

The training module includes learning objectives, time and materials needed, how to market the event, options for tasting choices and sequence, and other tips for facilitating the event. Chapter administrators can access the training module and materials from the website, under Documents-Educational Materials.
