Wine and Herbs: Finding the Perfect Pairings!

Tuesday, October 18th, 2016, 6:30pm at

Northwest Wine Academy
at South Seattle College

Are you planning to roast a chicken to serve with your favorite Washington Chardonnay? What herb should you use to bring the two together?

Is your carefully tended basil plant ready to be made into pesto to stir into fresh linguine? What wine will make this simple dinner a revelation?

That bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from your trip to Napa years ago has been safely cellared and is ready to be opened. Which herb should you add to your Epicurious search to help you find a memorable main course?

The best wine and herb pairing can make your kitchen creations sing, bringing together what is on the plate and in the glass. To guide us on our perfect pairing discovery, we will welcome two very talented, accomplished women. Regina Daigneault is Program Coordinator and instructor in the Wine Technology Program at Northwest Wine Academy at South Seattle Community College, where our event will be held. She is certified with the Court of Master Sommeliers, and was Wine Director at Palisade Restaurant. Joining her will be Karen Binder of Binder's Bottles and Madison Park Café Catering. Her background includes attending the Culinary Institute of America with a focus on European wines and wine & food pairing. For over 30 years she was owner and chef at Seattle's Madison Park Café, and has now turned her culinary talents to catering. With Binder's Bottles, a retail wine service, Karen conducts tastings and consults with clients on picking the best wines for their events. The "perfect pair" for our event!

Regina and Karen will share their knowledge of pairing wine and herbs with us, and along with that, we will experience it for ourselves with a carefully chosen pairing of wines and bites that will bring out the best in each other. Come learn and sample!
