Extra Winery Tour: Peter Michael |
 |
| Details: |
In 1982 Sir Peter Michael established the Peter Michael winery on a square mile of rocky volcanic ridges that form the western face of Mount St. Helena in Sonoma County. From the beginning, the wine growing philosophy was modeled on the French tradition infused with a few modern influences. Given this commitment to the product, only a limited quantity will ever be made. Normally closed to visitors, Peter Michael is opening their doors to Women For WineSense. |

Extra Winery Tour: Rudd |
 |
| Details: |
In 1996, the Rudd family purchased the 55-acre Rudd Oakville Estate Vineyard after concluding the site was capable of producing unique luxury wines of world-class quality. The first Rudd Oakville Estate Red vintage was bottled in 2000, and in the more than a decade since then, limited production has allowed Rudd to pursue a tradition of excellence and attention to detail. Rudd implements meticulous farming practices and innovative winemaking techniques to create the finest wines their land is capable of producing. Guests will be invited to purchase wines. |

Extra Winery Tour: Joseph Phelps |
 |
| Details: |
In the late 1973, Joseph Phelps bought the 600-acre Connolly cattle ranch in Spring Valley, and began planting vineyards. In 1974 the first Syrah was made, the first grapes were crushed and the first Insignia was produced. Nearly four decades later, Insignia, the flagship wine, is recognized as one of the world’s great wines. From 1990 to 2007, the average score from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate is 94.5 pts., with the lowest score still a fabulous 91.
Blending Seminar: Play winemaker and experiment with blending Insignia components, then taste and compare your blend with the current vintage. |

Vintner Dinner: Linked Vineyards |
 |
| Details: |
Perched on a hillside on the southwestern edge of Knight’s Valley, the Linked Vineyards property overlooks both Napa and Sonoma counties. Join Jessica Link and husband and vineyard manager, Drew Johnson, for dinner at their home and vineyards. While Cabernet Sauvignon from their vineyard goes to Luc Morlet, consulting winemaker at the iconic Peter Michael, Morlet produces a small lot of Linked Vineyards Cabernet from a 3 acre section of the vineyard. This small plot is the steepest hill in the vineyard and is characterized by rocky volcanic soils that stress the vines, resulting in a small quantity of gorgeous and intense Cabernet. |
