Anne “Annie” Girvin
I’ve been practicing yoga since 2008 but became more serious about my practice a few years ago when work and life both got hectic, and I needed something to help manage the chaos. Through my yoga practice, I have found a deeper sense of self and comfort in my own skin. As a lifelong athlete, I believe that movement of any kind helps bring peace to your mind and purpose to your body. I decided to get my 200-hour certification through the Napa Valley Yoga Center, so I could deepen my practice, hold space, and empower others.
My classes incorporate creative transitions and challenging sequences, while exploring poses that increase flexibility, concentration, and strength. I also focus on linking breath to
movement, and because of my background in competitive gymnastics and collegiate diving, I tend to take an athletic, yet purposeful approach to teaching. I did improv comedy for a number of years, so there usually is a little humor mixed into my classes. We only have one life, so we should enjoy every moment of it (and not take everything
so seriously)!
