Virtual Tasting:
Portugal vs Oregon

May is Oregon Wine Month, so we thought we'd feature the amazing wines from this state. But wait! There's more! We're going to double the fun by also exploring wines from Portugal. Join us Thursday, May 7th at 5pm PST / 8pm EST on Zoom for a friendly "taste-off" of two similar wine regions, worlds apart. This  event is totally free and registration is not required RSVP on Facebook to let us know you're coming!

RSVP

Guest speakers Sandra Gomes of Diniz Cellars (Portugal) and Janie Brooks Heuck of Brooks Wine (Oregon) will take us through side-by-side comparisons on some classic styles indicative of their respective regions. To taste along with their wines, you can place an order for shipment, pickup or delivery. See details below. Or, if you'd prefer to just sip along with whatever you have on hand, that's fine as well! There's no rules on a Zoom Tasting! We hope you'll join us either way.

This event is open to all Women For WineSense members and friends, not just LA! Please join us!

Why Portugal versus Oregon?

The Vinho Verde region in Portugal and Oregon share a cooler, maritime climate. Both regions produce refreshingly light, acid-driven white wines with good fruit notes and aromatics.Oregon and Portugal also share a commonality in Burgundian style reds. Oregon’s famed Willamette Valley is synonymous with beautiful Pinot Noirs, while Portugal’s Dão region is known as the “Burgundy of Portugal,” producing amazingly earthy and spicy wines from varietals such as Jaen (aka, Mencia) and Alfrochiero. If you like Pinot Noir, this will be a fun comparison.
