The Seattle Chapter of Women For WineSense

Welcomes Fall with an Event Featuring

Water From Wine Winery

And

Core Hero Cider

This event is a little bit wine, and a little bit cider!

Our first guest is AnnaLee Zenkner with Water From Wine Winery. This Paterson, Washington-based winery came about after vineyard owner Pat Tucker survived a kidnapping for ransom from his home in 1996. Pat felt he wanted to give back after living through that experience. 2012 he decided to use his vineyard to form a nonprofit to help organizations bring clean water to the 663 million people world-wide who lack access to this basic resource. In addition to the main Paterson winery and tasting room, Water From Wine has added a tasting room in Leavenworth. They currently produce a Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rose of Cabernet Sauvignon, and two Cabernet Sauvignons.

Our second guest is Steve Kaiser, Cider Master, and founder of Core Hero Cider in Edmonds. He started making cider as a hobby, experimenting to find out what worked and what didn’t. Working in a Washington winery that also makes cider, he decided cider was his passion. “At its most basic, there is so much in common between a winery and a cidery,” Kaiser said. “Growing grapes for wine is much like growing apples for cider. You stress the fruit on purpose to bring the flavors out, and you have to know how to blend. When it comes to a finished product, you’re looking for something with nuance that pairs well with food to bring out a wider range of flavor.” The apples for Steve’s three ciders – and newly released sorbets – come only from Washington State, including his own orchard on Lopez Island.

Our dinner will be prepared by Chef Dane Catering. Chef Dane worked in Seattle area restaurants before moving on 20 years ago to be a personal chef. In 2016 expanded to catering, and now has a food truck, Here and There Grill.
