“The hills are alive with the sound of music.”  And the WWS wine glasses will be alive with the taste of some amazing Austrian wines!  The month of October is a perfect time to immerse ourselves in the culture of Austria, and to discover some of the country’s best kept wine secrets.  The Austrian philosophy of winemaking closely parallels that of Germany and Alsace – Namely that GREATNESS resides in PURITY.  Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch are just a few of our favorite things.  These are no run of the mill wines, but rather “specialties of terroir”.   They are also extremely food friendly, and you will see many of them finding their way to some of the best restaurant wine lists in the country.  The selection of Austrian wines continues to grow on local wine shelves, so it’s time to get up to speed!

Please join Annette Stewart and Holly Howell as they guide you through a festive evening of Austrian wine and food.

Patricia Lorenzen, Director of St. Peter’s Kitchen, will be speaking at our October Women for WineSense event. For our quarterly community service event, Patty will be discussing how St. Peter’s Kitchen has been serving the community of Rochester, NY for over 30 years. The mission of St. Peters Kitchen is:

  • Provide healthy and tasty lunches on a daily basis
  • Distribute food, clothing, other necessities and children’s items
  • Provide one on one assistance to listen, problem solve, make referrals and advocate for guests
  • Develop healthy eating approaches including a community garden
  • Provide opportunities for individual and community growth.
