Wine-making from Acetobacter to Zygosaccharomyces - The Road from Medicine to Wine-making is Littered with Yeast

with Dr. Kerith Overstreet

Join us for the inaugural event of the Austin chapter of Women for WineSense.

Veteran winemaker Kerith Overstreet will walk us through the basics of fermentation science. How do we turn juice into wine? What is happening at a macro-level, in a tank and at a micro-level, with microbes? Learn how winemakers exploit yeast biology to keep their wine fermentation healthy and strong. A former physician, Kerith will also discuss her journey from medical pathologist to winemaker and how her scientific background informs her wine-making style. Kerith will share personal anecdotes, striking vineyard photos, luscious grape porn, and of course, her wines with the Women for Winesense Austin chapter. Let's really make sense of wine microbiology!
